My daughter loves these Princess themed books. While I think they are cute it's kinda nonsense. "Hyped up" Disney magic. My daughter loves these Princess themed books. While I think they are cute it's kinda nonsense. "Hyped up" Disney magic. ...more

The princess stories always seem so shallow to me. They so often showcase all the princesses and thus have no plot. The best I can say for this book is that it did focus on good characteristics like kind, smart, and caring. I also liked how it used examples. Would be a much stronger book with Pochantus and Mulan.

(age 6)-- It was very amazing! I like it because it has princesses, and they do a lot of things in the book. Everything they do is important. I could read the whole book by myself.

Daughter loved this book. She has a thing for princesses, but she's almost ready to read. It's from the pre-k library, though, so we were missing a few pages Daughter loved this book. Decent. Obviously a part of the Disney Princesses line "for girls". Teaches kids what it means to be a princess. Couldn't help but remember Lady Diana's statement that "being a princess isn't all it's cracked up to be" as I put this one down, though. Anyway, it's for kids. Still better than that Star Wars book I read where Obi-Wan and Anakin ride a roller-coaster; this story actually has a point. My daughters loves all of the princesses. My youngest has had me read it to her so much that she almost has it memorized. My older daughter reads it to me all the time. I like that it talks about the positive things (Aurora being polite and saying "thank you", Belle loves to read, Jasmine is brave). My daughters loves all of the princesses. Amazingly not bad. But not really great either. I like reading that princesses are smart and like to read as much as princesses like to dress up. On the downside, the book is a typical Disney advertizement for it's movies, and if you haven't seen the movies and don't know the princesses already, it may be not worth it. Amazingly not bad. This is quite a fun Disney Princess book as it explores different aspects of what makes a Princess. I wish it went a step further and I wish it avoided the "looking pretty" but it does cover the being a good friend, being brave and being clever by reading lots of books aspects too so I can live with it!
Fun and good pictures.

This book recognizes the important characteristics that all princesses should have.

They are kindness, intelligence, bravery, ready for fun, like to dress up, see new things, be a dreamer, be polite, and like to sing and dance.

I think most little girls will agree with this list.

What is a Princess? is a great book, especially for children who are Disney princess fanatics. By showing what a princes does, children can relate to their favorite characters as a role model. This story is great for children who are learning their alphabet and beginning to read.

My name is Felicity and I am 4 years old. I learned that princesses are kind and princesses are smart and princesses are caring.

It really has no plot but it works for learning to read. My daughter is not really a fan of this book, she is 4. I found some things a little sexist.

My daughter absolutely loved this. For its reading level, it was lovely (and for little girls).
